Ballymaloe Grainstore

Ballymaloe, Ireland

East Cork’s Most Versatile Venue Ballymaloe Grainstore is a modern, well-lit and warm split-level multipurpose venue with state-of-the-art and versatile venue space available for private hire.

The Ballymaloe Grainstore story… Rory, son of Myrtle Allen, is first and foremost a farmer but always had a passion for music. As his son, Darren took more responsibility for the farm Rory had more time to give to music. He started organizing music weeks in Ballymaloe where he would invite musicians to play to guests in the drawing room. This led to the dream of building a venue suitable for music concerts but being right next door to Ballymaloe House and Restaurant it also made sense to have a building suitable for weddings, corporate events, and parties.

Being very careful to maintain the character of the original 17th-century farmyard building, Rory carefully worked with an architect, Jilly Ferrera, to convert the Grainstore, previously used for the storage of wheat, tractors and other farm machinery, into the multi-purpose venue it is today. Since its completion in 2010, it has hosted an impressive range of events, from weddings to festivals and craft fairs.

President Bill Clinton even attended the Grainstore as a guest of honor at the Worldwide Ireland Funds Conference in 2012.

The Grainstore has become a hub for quality entertainment, presenting musicians such as Phil Coulter, Finbar Furey, Donovan, Sharon Shannon, Cara O’Sullivan, Julie Feeney, Hermitage Green and Jack L; leading comedians including Tommy Tiernan, Neil Delamere and Brendan Grace; local and national theatre productions; and live broadcasts from the National Theatre of London.
