Durational live performance

Sirius Arts Centre, Cobh
Admission free, all welcome.
Strange Attractor is a durational, improvised live performance by Anthony Kelly, Danny McCarthy, Irene Murphy, Mick O’Shea and David Stalling. They will be joined by special guest Jed Speare (Sirius artist-in-residence). Strange Attractor is a multi-dimensional, collaborative venture that experiments with sound, movement, technology, combined media, text and found objects.
The artists will explore creative possibilities resulting in an experience that offers multiple points of entry for the audience. The audience is welcome to come and stay as long as they wish, sit down or walk around to experience the performance from different viewpoints.
The collaboration began in 2010 and was curated in partnership with Dawn Williams of the Crawford Gallery, Cork, Ireland. It consisted of a series of monthly durational performances with invited guests that led to a gallery-based residency during April 2011. Further performances including RHA Gallery, Dublin, Ireland, Cafe OTO & Pigeon Wing Gallery, London, Studio Soto, Boston, Harvestworks, New York
Strange Attractor’s live performances with invited guests have opened new cross-disciplinary relationships between sound, visual art and music and have featured internationally renowned artists, such as David Toop, Mary Nunan, Stephen Vitiello, Rhodri Davies, Alessandro Bosetti, Steve Roden, Atoosa Pour Hosseini, Lee Patterson, EL Putnam, Jed Speare, Sven Anderson, Mike Bullock, James Coleman, John Godfrey, Derek Hoffend, and Jane Wang. A full colour Strange Attractor book with DVD, and a PDF publication with live recordings and many contributions by the guest artists was published by Crawford Art Gallery and Farpoint Recordings.
