Spike Island Cinema club returns with 3 fantastic prison themed classics! You get to enjoy an evening sailing across Cork harbour, have a fun and interesting prison themed tour of our prison cells while it’s much quieter, with relevant stories of escapes and more, and enjoy a screening in our former children’s prison auditorium!
On Saturday 31st August we have the magnificent ‘The Shawshank Redemption’, and your tour will include hearing and seeing the true stories of our own prison island escapes.
On Saturday 07th September we have the story of ‘The General’ Martin Cahill, who was an inmate here in 1988. See his original cell and hear his story as well as learning about life in our 1980’s prison as part of your tour before the screening.
Finally on Saturday 21st September we have the blockbuster classic ‘Con Air’, a huge cinema hit about an ambitious prison break.
Enjoy a Saturday with a difference at Spike Island Cork, prebooking only, boats depart at 6.30pm and return to Cobh for approx 10.30pm.
