Seafood & Shanty Ballycotton will be held on the JUNE BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND in tranquil Ballycotton, East Cork. In its 5 th year, the village festival weekend celebrates life by the sea, fishing and shanty songs throughout the weekend. Ballycotton’s food serving establishments will offer FISHY MENU SPECIALS and on Saturday night the band FINNEGAN’S GAELS will visit all the bars in the village (starting at Sean McGraths at 6.30pm) and arriving at Inn by the Harbour around 10pm when ‘Fishy Bites’ will be served at every bar with the compliments of the village.
On SUNDAY 4 th JUNE between 2 – 5pm Ballycotton Harbour will be less tranquil than usual and become a sea of FREE old-fashioned family fun, entertainment and delicious food. Entertainment from the WOBBLY CIRCUS, and the JUJIOR EINSTEIN SCIENCE CLUB, FREE ICE CREAM for visiting little PIRATES and MERMAIDS (fancy dress) from Ballycotton Stores. SPIKE ISLAND ADVENTURES will provide some physical kids activities and there will be plenty of ARTS & CRAFTS with Ann from ECO PASTI (Shanagarry Design Centre) to keep the kids happy. Delicious farmers market food stalls will be set up on the pier including FISH & CHIPS from Colin Hennessy at PIER 26 – plenty of choice to suit all the family.
DJ MOSSIE will keep you up to date with what’s happening when and DUFFY’s CUT will perform on the pier from 3pm – dancing and busking is encouraged.
Affordable BOAT TRIPS available from the harbour around Ballycotton Lighthouse with Peter Manning Angling and the BALLYCOTTON LIFEBOAT crew and BALLYCOTTON CLIFF RESCUE will be on hand to share coastal safety advice and basic first aid demonstrations.
COOKERY DEMONSTRATIONS will be held on the pier – SUSHI with Chris and something spicy from Arun Kapul, GREEN SAFFRON and another highlight of the weekend is the festivals annual CRABY DERBY – it takes place on the pier on Sunday afternoon and is a unique experience not to be missed!
