The Secret Garden
Adapted from Frances Hodgson Burnett’s novel by Laura Turner.
Join young Mary Lennox on her journey of discovery as she travels to her uncle’s house deep in the Yorkshire countryside, where unexpected friends and very magical creatures help her unlock the mystery of the secret garden. This most enchanting story, loved by children and adults alike, is presented in some of the most beautiful garden settings across the UK and Ireland. Alive with music and song and an array of especially designed puppet creatures, Mary’s story and The Secret Garden promises to capture the very spirit of summer and to be one of the highlights of the open-air garden theatre season.
The Secret Garden runs from 13th June until 6th September. For more details on where you can see a production this summer and for more information on how to buy tickets you can visit the website www.chapterhouse.org .
This summer Chapterhouse will also be touring another children’s show, The Jungle Book which is returning after a successful year in 2014. The Secret Garden has been developed by the same writer and director duo as The Jungle Book.
I couldn’t imagine a more perfect setting for this story than the wonderful gardens and open-air venues Chapterhouse visits. The Secret Garden is one of those rare stories that appeals to children and adults alike. It captures the joy of being alive and encourages us to trust in ourselves and believe the seemingly impossible – because with a little bit of self-belief, the most extraordinary things can happen. – Laura Turner, Script Writer.
“This much-loved children’s classic has entertained families for generations and it is a great honour to give a new interpretation for Chapterhouse Theatre Company’s 2015 summer tour” –Philip Stevens, Director.
Praise for The Jungle Book.
“Chapterhouse Theatre Company really do know how to engage an audience of all ages, their excellent adaptations are creative and entertaining.” – MARISA CASHILL (Derbyshire Times)
