Volvo Cork Week 2022

10 July - 14 July

Looking for a great family day out this July? Then you won’t want to miss the Volvo Cork Week Family Day on Sunday 10th July from 12-5pmThere will be fun, education, and nautical adventure for families across the whole village of Crosshaven from the Royal Cork Yacht Club to Camden Fort Meagher and everywhere in between.

The Royal Cork is putting a focus on sustainability at this year’s event with a new coastal market at the yacht club, coastal walks, boat trips from Hugh Coveney Pier on the Cailin Or, competitions and games.

A highlight of the day will be a family workshop with marine scientist, best-selling author and Volvo Car Ireland Brand Ambassador Finn van der Aar at 1pm.  Finn is passionate about helping people to live more sustainably and presents crucial environmental and oceanic research in a way that is understandable to all.

During her workshop, children will have the chance to learn about how to care for the sea and coastal areas around them. Finn will share how she fell in love with the sea, her fascinating work as a marine biologist as well as tips on how we can combat some marine conservation issues such as marine noise pollution and how to reduce marine plastics. She will also give tips on how to do a great beach clean-up!

Volvo Cork Week is also running a sustainability-themed colouring competition with a prize of a miniature children’s electric Volvo car up for grabs, along with other prizes on the day!

Red FM’s Colm O’Sullivan will be broadcasting his afternoon show live from the Yacht Club from 2-6pm.  And while families are in Crosshaven, they can also enjoy the famous Piper’s Fun Fair in the village.

The Family Day kicks off a week full of activity for Volvo Cork Week 2022.
