Habitat & Species
During the winter, the sheltered aspect of Aghada Pier allows for superb close-up views of four Grebe species, Black Guillemots and other Auks, Great Northern Divers, Red-breasted Mergansers and Gulls.
About the Area
Queen Victoria’s visit to Cobh in 1849 was the motivation behind the construction of the pier. From Cobh, renamed Queenstown in her honour, the Victoria & Albert Royal Yacht sailed the scenic journey through Cork Harbour, passing waterside villages like Aghada en route to Cork City.
