Denis Conway Performer
Denis is one of Ireland’s leading stage actors and was awarded the Irish Times theatre award for best actor on two occasions. For his performance of Richard in Shakespeare’s ‘Richard III’ at the Samuel Beckett Theatre and The Irishman in Tom Murphy’s, ‘The Gigli Concert’ for Druid Theatre Company. He was nominated as Best supporting Actor for his performance as Mitch in Tennessee Williams’ ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ at the Gate Theatre.
‘End of Day’ is a one-man show taken from ‘Beginning to End’ comprising of excerpts from Beckett’s fiction, plays and poetry. Originally devised by Jack Mac Gowran with assistance from Beckett and first performed for the BBC programme, ‘Monitor,’ in 1965. MacGowran subsequently performed the show around the world. “People find Beckett morose,” he once said, “I find him so funny.” This new production was originally commissioned by ‘Happy Days Enniskillen International Beckett Festival 2016’ and provides audiences a rare opportunity to enjoy, in one show, some of Beckett’s most profound and entertaining work.
